Genius programme

Hello, I receive quite a few messages about joining the Genius programme. I have been doing well with my bookings but want to attract guests to stay longer. If you are part of the Genius programme has this helped with your bookings and would you recommend it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

The Genius program gives *some* people a discount on your advertised prices. As a result, you earn less from each Genius booking. To compensate for this, you can increase prices - you can do the same with any discount. However, you're then pricing out non-Genius members.

Until recently, a small number of guests were eligible for the Genius program. Booking.com have "lowered the requirements" for guests to become eligible for Genius discounts. They are extending Genius soon, opening it up to bookings from partner sites.

We use Genius on a couple of properties - not convinced it's a good thing. We list all properties on AirBnB, TripAdvisor and HomeAway too, so one way or another, we'll be fully booked through the main holiday season. I will look through my listings and bookings over the winter to compare those with and without the Genius program and to see if we had any real benefit from Genius.

My current thoughts are that the best way is to open up for bookings on AirBnB / TripAdvisor first, get good reviews in, and these will generate more bookings from AirBnB / TripAdvisor. Then open up on Booking.com without Genius to fill the gaps. This means we also get paid a lot faster for most bookings.
