Help! Calenders not sincing and I've got a double booking

Hi I've been working with Airbb successfully for the last 2 years. I just joined booking.com and sinced my calenders with iCalc. Only it appears not to have worked and I now have a double booking (my first booking too!) :(

How can I cancel the booking.com reservation?

Hi Sophie,

 

I cant say this enough always search and check first here before turning on any feature you don't understand.

The simple answer is iCAL is a one way sync, and only useful  for syncing into an email calendar

I strongly advise against using it ,as it will never be instant or 24/7.

 

The only proper solution is to enable and setup a 3rd party Channel manager service such as beds24.com.

 

Even if you only had one channel, its still worth it.

But definitely when you have two or more channels, a CM is  mandatory, otherwise you will end up with double bookings.

 


Note: Export all bookings on all OTA prior to setting up the Channel Manager service as it overwrites the calendar/reservations of the OTA.

 

Technically they are still there just disabled in calendar. so you can roll back to not using a CM and the future bookings will still be there.

 


As for canceling the second booking, simply first message the guest, advise them of the double booking and say you have to cancel. and that they shortly will receive an email asking them to click and confirm.

 

Then once sent click on the cancel button in that same reservation detail view to kick it off.

 

Now you have to wait for them to take the action. Naturally there is a chance they refuse to, but 99% of the time it should work.

It has for me.

Thank you Barry, that's really useful information. I thought I did understand  iCal, it appeared very simple. Obviously to good to be true!
