How to SYNC Booking. com and Airbnb calendars

Hi good day fellow hosts,

I am reaching out to you to get help on how to SYNC the calendars of booking. com and Airbnb. We cannot see where the "Import" and "Export" calendar here in the platform.

I will be delighted by your response as we had been using the two platforms without us knowing how to sync the two Calendars. Thank you in advance! God Bless!

There should be a link to the calendar sync page below the calendar. If it is not there, send a message to booking.com via your extranet to get it set up.

But, the Booking.com calendar sync does not work. It is broken. Sometimes it will sync, sometimes it won't. Sometimes it can lose your sync settings. If you report that it is not working, or that you had a double booking even though you had set up the calendar sync, Booking.com will tell you nonsense about calendar sync not being in real time and that calendar sync is a manual process. Always block manually.

Some people recommend using a channel manager. Personally, I don't trust Booking.com systems to export any data correctly so will continue manual blocking.

Thank you so much for your prompt response. This one is noted. In actuality, we also have doubts of syncing the calendars, cause even booking. com itself put it on the reminder that we have to keep an eye on our bookings. Again, thank you for your opinion :)  would follow that one! God Bless!

Hi Ian

Incorrect info, stale out of date on a topic 1+ year old.

Dont assume it is still true , as this one is not.

Always create a new topic.

FACT: The sync options will never be visible when you DO NOT meet the requirements. This was not even mentioned on this topic, and is important to understand those first.

Second, never use this feature as it will cause double/over bookings. Only can be done safely using a 3rd party service, aka Channel Manager

Kind Regards

May i jump on the bandwagon here, as I, too, have a question on calendars.  IOW assisted me a couple of days ago too, so thanks IOW!  I am still very confused by the whole setting up process.

Our property is one 'farm' with 5 cottages, and we have an additional agent working on bookings for us.  They use google.calendar and can view all cottages under one calendar.  I obviously have a need to be able to know as soon as they take a booking and vice versa.  I have just spoken to them and they have asked that I try to find out if I can synch iCal in real time with the booking.com calendar.  It is possible for the agent to separate the calendar into 5, but they won't then have visibility of the whole farm when one person, say, wants to book the whole 5 cottages, as does happen.  Reading what you say above, I am a little sceptical that everything will run completely smoothly. Your advice would be so appreciated.

Incidentally, I am not even registered yet, so I do not have access to the extranet.

Oh you are right to be sceptical about smooth running!

As you list each property, you will have 5 separate listings and therefore 5 separate calendars and therefore 5 separate iCal links. Your agent will know how to integrate these - and I would expect the agent to set up 5 separate calendars for you, one for each property. (I don't use Google Calendar so don't know what the features are).It might be the case that one Google Calendar can import 5 separate iCal data feeds - your agent will know.

The calendar might sync in real time sometimes, but other times it will not. Therefore, as soon as a booking comes in, block those dates manually on the other systems. It'll be wise for the agent to have login access to your Booking.com accounts.

Your agent should also know how to use a channel manager. There is a slight advantage in that channel manager software should store booking details, so even when the Booking.com calendar export fails, whether that's iCal data or XML data, the bookings are still stored and the dates are blocked in the other calendars.

As I have 20 years experience in web development, I have built my own bookings system which displays data for all bookings from all OTAs. It's colour coded so I know which OTA each booking is from, or if it's a direct booking from social media or my website etc. I expect there are commercial channel manager systems that can do similar.

The wording on that page suggests that the calendar sync works. I know it says it won't sync immediately, but that suggests that it will sync eventually.

Please can you get the page changed to reflect the real situation, which is that sometimes calendar sync works, sometimes it doesn't, and sometimes, Booking.com will completley lose calendar sync settings, and that property owners should never rely on Booking.com calendar sync and should always block manually.

As Booking.com refuse to acknowedge or fix the faults and bugs in their own systems, it's only fair to forewarn property owners so they don't get lots of double bookings because of these faults.

IOW, your knowledge is amazing.  Thank you.  I can see I am totally out of my depth here. I will push this to someone else to arrange for me I think.  One property, one calendar fine, but when you have another travel company takings bookings, not so simple!!  Thank you IOW
