Promotions

Promotions sounds great, promising and the way to go. But Be careful with too many discounts.  Few times I got so cheap bookings and I thought it must be some kind of mistake. But promotions piled on top of each other and created close to 50% off.  Genius 10%, cell phone booking 10%, last min booking 10% and if you sign for other 20% promotion it could be lots of booking for very little money. Most important, not so good people will arrive. I notice that more expensive listings get a better guests.

I cancelled most of promotions. Hope it helps to be careful.

Indeed a typical issue for many of us when we first started and enrolled into every feature then later scrambled to undo, understand,  and unify.

I prefer the Booster.  you are more in the control. Select dates, select commissions above 15%. I do 19%. your property will go on top of the search

I would not do again the mobile rate discount. Seams useless , because people use mobile phone because it’s convenient not because there is extra 10% discount.  I feel like it’s money left on the table...

The mobile discount is exactly what you said...dont like it either... I have deactivated also.

I think the visibility Booster is a great idea...being on the top of the search is very catchy... Its a  real promotion...its a bit expensive though because it stacks with Genius...

Thanks Marita for your kind advise.

Another date based portion concept is when there are events on , particularly Thursdays,  Fridays.

Expedia have an event calendar that shows upcoming event such as rugby league,  grand prix seasons etc.

You could set those dates as minimum 2 nights.

And for city break during st valentines,  setup a 2-3 night, discount but at a higher base rate

Yes, events help.... We are in a rural place so not too many in our area....but we have the largest  Open air venue, where Rockwave Festival is  held so its a good time for more bookings.

Thanks for your comments.

Aaltje B.

I tried promotion and booster. Worked for a small time. Now platform A  bookings doubled .. same price   no commission It takes time to understand system of B. but if it only works short time then doesnt make sence .

My focus has changed to A .for now .

But it could be different in a months time, depending on type of travellers. Now the younger people come in . When uni starts again in Feb it's Booking winning .

Ah  we're all learning !

Help! How do I deactivate the discounts and promotions?  Especially that silly mobile app one.  I have searched but find nothing. Being blond?

In your Extranet under Rates and availabilities search to find Mobile rates.  There you can deactivate your mobile rates. Other promotions you can deactivate them under your Promotion tab.

Hope this helps.
