Calendar Syncing

Hi All,

Has anyone got any good tips on syncing calendars with other sites??

Although I've copied and pasted , imported and exported the links to other booking sites refreshed etc it seems to be an ongoing problem of days I've blocked or are already booked being made available again.

This is being particularly problematic with the AirBnB at the moment and it is resulting in double bookings.

I've dome all I can but feel now that perhaps there is a flaw in this system with the different sites that they need to get their heads together  and sort out.

It is taking up valuable time having to keep checking calendars when I can be focusing on giving guest an seamless service. This gives them a distinct unprofessional impression of both the host and the booking sites .

I am also having a problem with the Syncing. It's not showing dates which are booked on the calendar. I've removed, re-added the link and tried booking and un booking my dates and refreshing the page but it's just not Syncing.

Hi Sandra,

Sounds as though you are having the exact same problem as I am.

I done the same deleted the calendars on all sites then re imported and exported.

Seem to work initially then back to square one and not syncing. Its really frustrating and annoying and needs to be looked into by the sites IT teams.

I have spoken to them or mailed them but nobody seems to want to be accountable and put the blame on the property owner which is rather sad especially as we are their customers too.

I suppose the good news is, if you go to a booking page as if you were the customer. The calendar seems to have updated there, so you shouldn't get any double bookings. I think it's just our Calendar on the dashboard which doesn't show as updated.

I contacted Air BnB who have admitted that issues with their calendar syncing which would effect others.

They have however resolved the issue and all seems well at the moment. At least they took ownership of the problem which is encouraging.

Case closed !!!!!

Oh dear JoeD. We seem to be getting mixed messages then. Well fingers crossed whatever enhancements the sites have made will solve the problem rather than conflict with each other!!

it is ESSENTIAL that, all of you out there leave comment feedback on the new calendar format and being unable to sync calendars - the only way they will change the calendar so that it does sync, is by you and me feeding the information back

so, go to your calendar

go to the bottom of the page

hit 'feedback'

click 1 for poor

explain that the syncing of calendars is vital to our businesses

MANY THANKS - PLEASE PASS ON...

Couldn't agree more Claire. I spend more and more time monitoring these damn calendars than anything else at the moment.

All these sites really need to get their heads together and sort it out.

Did we find a solution for this? I just had a last minute double booking and it was a really bad situation for all parties. What can we do about this?

No real positive solution.

All the sites appear to have done something to calendar syncing and they aren't working.

I've turned off instant book with AirBnB and Trip Advisor as its just to risky and not worth the trouble.

Booking did advise me to switch to a real time booking system whatever that means? As a novice to all this one would assume you would need training on a booking system and not just hope it works through trial and error at home.

There is a fee to pay for ical , but it's usually reliable with all the other sites you use.

This is absolutely ridiculous. I have a double booking due to Booking.com not syncing. Now we have to pay the fee to the guest and also damage our listing's reputation. Will not use this platform anymore going forward.

Well don't go with Sykes Cottages, the same thing has just happened to me, they don't Sync on their site, you have to add bookings manually, but due to technical problems on their portal, they just double booked a 14 night stay at mine, which I have had to cancel and am now expected to pay astronomical cancellation charges and re-housing costs, due to no fault of my own.

well - I seem to have my old calendar back that allows syncing - I refuse to pay ANOTHER commission after booking.com take so much. Fingers crossed things will improve. Sorry for all those above who have had double bookings - what a nightmare..... it just shouldn't be so complicated....

Hi All. I’m having similar problems, my listing is being blocked when it free. It seems to be happening during the night, also I’m only showing as available maybe 2 weeks ahead when I’m actually free. I’ve removed calendars and re installed . The problem is still ongoing. I’ve had 3 one night bookings this month and I’m getting into real trouble now. Does anyone know how I can take this forward and resolve the issue ?
Thank you

I noticed the same as well.

I had days blocked next week when in fact it was available.

It seemed to be from AirBnB but when I checked that calendar it was open too.

I did find TripAdvisor being a bit troublesome too so have suspended listing for time being.

Would be nice if booking.com could perhaps post a detailed way of copy, pasting and syncing calendars to all partners and if there is any particular order it should be done so as to prevent future problems

Thanks for your reply. In the beginning I was only noticing I was being blocked on the day and had to keep opening it every two hours. Very very frustrating. It was until a yesterday I realised when a friend was having a look it said next available date 24th June . Not true! I think the only thing for me to do is remove Airbnb Callander and do it all manually. More frustration as I’m trying to run two properties.

"Closed" dates on Booking.com are not translating to other sites (i.e. Airbnb) leading to unwanted bookings when not available. Airbnb calendar closures however does translate to Booking. Consider keeping the master calendar there.

similar problem with booking.com not updating trip advisor and airbnb, this not only causes huge problems, it also gets you seriously penalised because you have to cancel bookings because of their neglect,
