How do I stop Booking.com advertising my property on Google after I leave

We plan to quit Booking.com end of October.  How do I stop Booking.com advertising my property on Google Ads after we quit and so diverting people who are looking for my property?  I know other owners who tell me they had a problem with this.

EDIT In fact after posting this I put in a request to quit with immediate effect on 17 Sept 2018.

Lock out all rooms from November onwards and clear out rates. Then they have nothing to advertise. If you actually close your account that should be the final clincher.

Clear your cache and browsing history after the deed is done and it should have disappeared........in theory at least!

Hi Fluff

I trust you're not lurking under the bed and in plugholes LOL!

Yes, I've already put in a cancellation request. For info, if you just close down your rooms then Bookingcom ads still appear in search results for your property, but when a person clicks on the ad they get offered other properties instead of yours (since yours obviously is unavailable on the platform).

My reason for posting is that on owner forums I've been informed by others who have quit that they have a load of hassle getting Booking.com to stop advertising their property after they quit the platform. On reflection I'm not sure there's much chance of my getting a reply on this forum from someone who's closed their account and had this issue, as by definition someone who's been through it probably don't have access any more! But if I get a reply from Booking.com (they've passed the question up the line to their advertising people) then I'll try to post it here in case it is useful to anyone else.

Yes, as you say, you wouldn't be removed from the BDC psyche unless they are willing to actually remove your listing from their records.

However, your BDC listing would rapidly plunge down the internet results into obscurity. The only time it may appear nearer the top is when someone searches your establishment by name, then by general BDC internet presence your place would still pop up on BDC results.

It will be interesting to hear if they are willing to "erase" you.

( Sounds a bit like gangland movies where you can't ever leave, being erased for trying then being a tad more harsh! )

Bandara Hotels…

Booking Com I don't think that Booking.com can do that even you have no rate no room on their system. AS they still keep pull rate from other OTA's/channel anyway. And the advertising is done by auto system robot generate.

However for me I think it good that you are being advertise/promote with no cost. 90% of customer who visit Booking.com will visit Hotel website anyway. So you can catch and divert them there.

I'm not talking about "natural" results on Google. Just Google Ads, which appear above everything else.

That is why I said clear your cache and browsing history.

Google ads is heavily influenced by your own searches, collected cookies and any other browser history/data.

Don't believe me? Try searching a few times for the same really obscure item (for you) or service, within a day or two it will appear on your google ads banner.

I used to work in IT - I do know how browsing history, cookies and cache work but that is another subject, related but not the same as getting Booking.com to stop running Google ad campaigns involving your property name and address. As I say, other owners have reported Booking.com ads continuing to appear for their property name long after they left the OTA, and that was what concerned me.

Anyway, the good news is that I've had a reply from Booking.com saying they have closed our account. Once outstanding reservations and invoices have been settled, then they will send us an official termination letter. At the same time their Google Ads targeting our property names appear to have stopped, which is what I wanted - so all good there.

Our Booking.com listing still appears in natural search results but that will gradually stop once Booking.com removes our details from their web servers so that the search engines can no longer find us on their sites. At the moment Booking.com still shows our details (see screenshot example) but I've requested that they take everything down - text, images and all. I just hope they comply without delay.

I hope this clarifies what I was asking about and helps others in the same process. :)

I guess you have to stay with them until their last guest who has booked with you stays right?
