no reply from the guest

Hi,

tomorrow I should check-in a guest who is not replying my messages.

I wrote different messages, even in whatsapp, but no replies (I saw he has read my wathsapp message).

How I have to behave? I am not sure he is going to attend the check in and I have fear of a no show case.

(in the past in case of no show I have lost money because I have no credit card machine to take money)

what do you suggest?

Thank you

Manuela

Dear Manuela,

If you cannot charge a CC, then there is nothing you can do.

From the looks of it, yeah, probably he will not show up and this will be a no-show. All you can do is make sure to mark it in the Extranet.

Best of luck,

Dear Manuela,

in case you have no CC charger, try Payments by Booking as this can do the job, as it does for me.
At least I got less nervous, when the customer was not replying to my message as the payment was done and I knew, I`ll get the money, because of policy and Payments by Booking service, that I use.

Milan

Dear Milan,

I am unaware of having 100% payments by BDC. Is there a setup for this or you need to talk to them about it directly?

We for instance have Cash, CC, BDC Paid bookings on BDC. The guest selects whichever option he/she chooses.

Dear Zsolt,

as I'm based in the Czech Republic, I'm not sure about other countries, but I have to get payments only by Booking. Payment by cash is possible for me, but only if there is direct booking through our website.

Our guests can only pay by CC, when booking over Booking.com.

Hope this helped,
Milan

Dear Milan,

Just to confirm, you've set your BDC policy that you're not processing CC and that you're allowing guests to pay online, without cash payments.

Is that right?

Maybe the way BDC functions in CZ is different from Romania. Although it shouldn't be... EU?

Dear Zsolt,

I have this Policy set:

Guest Payment Options

You're Using Payments by Booking.com.

That Means:
  1. A customer books a stay at your property.
  2. Booking.com facilitates an online payment for the guest*.
  3. You receive the payment by bank transfer.

To learn more, visit our Payments by Booking.com information page.
* Some "per person" fees (e.g. city taxes) still have to be directly charged by you at check-in.

Dear Milan,

Thank you for clarifying that. We do not have this type of option.

Seems like there isn't a uniform way of doing business with BDC in the EU. Kind of concerning isn't it?

Dear Zsolt,

no problem replying your question. In the Czech Republic, we do have EET (Electronic evidence of payments - that are done in cash, credit cards). This is probably the reason of Booking offering this option of buying.

I`ve also spotted some adverts on some credit card readers (SUM UP solution, if I remember this correctly) and also cost of credit card terminal is not as costly in the Czech Republic, but varies from bank to bank.
