What would happen...

We are all unhappy at the fees Booking.com is charging us.

The only way to let them know is to take action - mass action on a global scale!

What if we all came together and took our properties off-line for a week....... that would really hurt them and also teach them that WE have the control, not them.

Ideas, comments?!

It does seem that since WE own the property,  that they shouldn't be be making that huge of a percentage.

The simple solution is to adjust the pricing.

Start with the amount you want to receive per night, then add an amount to cover the fees charged by the OTA. That means different prices advertised on AirBnB and BDC, but we get the same amount of money.

This is no different to any other business costs we have to cover ....

By the way, I have done exactly this for my properties. One of them is fully booked this month through BDC, others are fully booked through TA/HA/AirBnB .....

Yes, 15% fees is high, giving you only 85% income.

But I look at it this way: I get more bookings by using booking.com, and 85% of a lot of bookings is better than 100% of a few bookings.

Hey all,

Have to agree with Michael. I just add 15% to the amount that I actually want to get out and my rooms still get booked. This way I don't really lose out but rather offer another platform for people to book on. Which is a win.

I have a dispute running with Booking.com,  which I will not go into here, but it does concern commission. I have written to the CEO direct to try to get something sorted and in the meantime have closed all dates to the end of the season. I am hoping that I may get a satisfactory conclusion.

15% plus I've just learned that they also charge 1.4% to put the payment into my account! Pure greed. Then I have the tax man waiting to take a further 15%! Not sure I'll continue letting my place out.
