Is anyone else receiving Format Error (30) when attempting to charge VCCs?

I am getting this error with every single VCC and Booking.com has yet to provide a resolution.

I looked up the error code - Response Code: 30 Format Error - The customer’s card issuer does not recognize the transaction details being entered. This is due to a format error. The customer should check the transaction information and try processing the transaction again. 

I am only having trouble with Booking.com. No issues with Expedia, Agoda, HotelTonight, or any other partners. 

Is anyone else receiving Format Error (30) when attempting to charge VCCs? Does anyone have a solution?

have you actually confirmed its a BdC issued VCC and not the guest's bank or bank app (one time card generations)  e.g. Revolut

Message or Call BdC PartnerSupport 


  1. In the extranet, go to the ‘Inbox’ tab.
  2. Select ‘Booking.com messages’.
  3. Right Pane - Click on ‘See Contact Options’
  4. Choose Account
  5. Now choose Other
  6. Then at bottom , See all contact options, and click Message or Call
  7. As there is no one number for all partners, the number for your nearest BdC Partner Support is then revealed.

This only occurs with virtual cards from B.com. When guests pay on their own, I can process payment without any errors.
