Understanding the new cash payment feature in your Guest Payment Options

It’s important for guests to know the types of payment accepted by your property. This will help make sure they arrive with the right expectations. Cash is an important and popular option around the world, so based on feedback from properties like yours, we’ve added a new cash feature to the Guest Payments Options. For your convenience, we have already selected the cash feature in your extranet, but depending on the options you offer, you can always revisit and modify your guest payment options.

This additional feature only adds to the payment options available at your property. It does not change our requirements for guests to provide their credit card details while making a reservation, and does not impact the policies you have previously set up.

 


How to modify your Guest Payment Options

If your property is able to receive cash as a form of payment, you don’t need to change anything. However, if you don’t accept cash as a form of payment at your property, you must make sure that the cash option is unselected. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Log in to the extranet
  2. Click Property, then Policies
  3. Under Other policies, click Edit on Guest payment options 
  4. Deselect the Cash option
  5. Click on Save

The feature will begin to display to guests from 1 March 2023. This means that in addition to the current payment options accepted that we display to guests for a property, we will also show cash as an option on that list if it is selected for a property.


If you are a multi-property partner 

If you manage multiple properties on Booking.com, then the ‘cash’ field is ‘unselected’ by default, rather than selected as described above. Therefore guests will not be informed that cash is an option for payment once they arrive. You can modify this for your individual properties, at any time in the extranet. Here’s how:

  1. Log in to the extranet
  2. Click Property, then Policies
  3. Under Other policies, click Edit on Guest payment options
  4. Select the Cash option
  5. Click on Save

Guests will continue to be offered the current payment options for your properties, with no change, as of March 1, 2023 - unless you modify this for particular properties.
