Payments by Booking.com cost overview

You don’t need to pay a setup fee or additional commission to join Payments by Booking.com. We charge a fee for bookings you receive from us, which depends on the payout method you select – either virtual credit card (VCC) or bank transfer.

You’ll only be charged for completed bookings. No fees are collected when you waive a fee to offer guests free cancellation.

Costs for virtual credit card payouts

The cost of receiving a payout via virtual credit card (VCC) replaces the fee you would pay to your credit card company for charging guests directly. Most payment service providers also charge fees per transaction. This payment now goes toward charging the VCC per reservation instead.

When using a VCC, you receive payouts according to your reservation’s policy. You can find more information on these policies on the extranet.

Costs for bank transfer payouts

When you receive a payout by bank transfer for a reservation, there's a fee. This fee covers payment processing, chargeback, fraud risk and (Strong Customer Authentication) SCA costs if applicable. The fee varies depending on your property’s location and ranges from 1. to 3.1%.

Payment processing costs

Depending on the payout method, the following transaction costs may apply:

  1. Payment service provider (PSP) fees – charged by our payment service provider to process the payment, including collecting the payment from the guest (payer).
  2. Network fees – charged by credit card companies, like Visa or Mastercard, are included in the costs for bank transfer payouts.
  3. Interchange fees – charged by the customer’s issuing bank to approve the credit.

If you choose to receive your payout via bank transfer, it will be processed after your guest checks out. How you handle the payment charge and our commission depends on your location.

There are two options:

  • If we handle all aspects of payment collection – our commission and the payment charge will be deducted from each payout you receive. Your payouts will be net.
  • If you collect payment directly from some guests, while we handle others – you’ll pay the commission and payment charge for all reservations in one go at the end of the month. Your payouts will be gross, so you'll receive a separate invoice for the commission on these reservations.

You can find out which is applicable to your property in your Payments by Booking.com page.
