Blocking off dates in your calendar

There may be times throughout the year when you don’t want to receive any bookings for a specific room or unit. You can easily avoid these bookings by blocking off dates in your calendar, either in the extranet or in the Pulse app. Check which of the screenshots below matches what you see in the extranet or on Pulse, then follow the corresponding steps.

Calendar in List view

If you’re viewing the calendar in List view, you can block off individual dates by follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the extranet and click on either Calendar & Pricing or Rates & Availability, and then on Calendar
  2. To block off individual dates, click on the Room status of an open/bookable date (highlighted in green) and click on the Close button
  3. To close a specific rate plan for that room, click on rate plan row to see all the rate plans, then click on 
  4. Once you click Save the date will be highlighted in red – the date is now blocked from receiving bookings

Follow these steps to block off longer periods of time in List view:

  1. Click on Bulk edit
  2. In the panel that appears, select the start and end dates for the period you want to block off
  3. Use the checkboxes to select which days of the week you want to block off 
  4. Click on Room status and then on the Close room button
  5. Click Save changes to confirm the blocked dates

Calendar in Monthly view

If you’re viewing the calendar in Monthly view, you can block off dates by follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the extranet and click on either Calendar & Pricing or Rates & Availability, and then on Calendar
  2. Select the room or unit type that you’d like to block from the drop-down list
  3. Select the start and end dates for the period you want to block off, either in the panel on the right side of the screen or directly in the calendar
  4. Click on the Closed button to block off those dates
  5. Once you click Save, the dates will be highlighted in red – meaning they’re now blocked for bookings

Tip: To see an overview of your property’s long-term availability, switch your calendar to ‘Yearly view’.


Blocking off dates in the Pulse app

You can also block off dates in your calendar using the Pulse app, which is available for iOS and Android devices. Once you’ve downloaded Pulse, check which of the calendars below matches the calendar in the app, then follow the corresponding steps.

Follow these steps to close a room for an individual date:

  1. Open the Pulse app and tap on Availability
  2. Select the date you’d like to block off
  3. Scroll down to the room category you want to block off, then change the room status from Open to Closed
  4. Tap on Closed in the room status section
  5. Your changes save automatically – the room is now blocked for that date

Follow these steps to close a room for multiple dates:

  1. Open the Pulse app and tap on Availability
  2. Tap on Edit multiple dates under the calendar
  3. Select the date range you’d like to block off
  4. Tap on Open or close rooms to save the changes
  5. Select the property you want to update if you have multiple properties on the same account, then select the room type
  6. Tap on Closed in the room status section
  7. Tap Save if you’re on iOS, or tap the check mark in the top-right corner of the screen if you’re on Android
  8. Once the green check mark appears, your changes have been saved

 


New calendar

Follow these steps to close a room for an individual date:

  1. Open the Pulse app and tap on Availability
  2. If you have one room type, go straight to step 6
    • If you have multiple room types, go to step 5
    • If you have multiple properties, go to the next step
  3. Tap on the property you’d like to update
  4. If you’re viewing the dates in a calendar, choose the room type you’d like to update by tapping on the calendar for that room typeIf you’re viewing the dates in a list, scroll down to the appropriate date and then tap on the room type you’d like to update
  5. Tap on the date you’d like to update
  6. Scroll down to the room status and tap on Close
  7. Tap Save if you’re on iOS, or tap the check mark in the top-right corner of the screen if you’re on Android (if you want to discard the changes, tap Reset on iOS or on the arrow in the top-left corner of the screen and then on Discard if you’re on Android)

Follow these steps to close a room for multiple dates:

  1. Open the Pulse app and tap on Availability
  2. If you have one room type, go straight to step 6 
    • If you have multiple room types, go straight to step 5
    • If you have multiple properties, go to the next step
  3. Tap on the property you’d like to update
  4. If you’re viewing the dates in a calendar, choose the room type you’d like to update by tapping on the calendar for that room typeIf you’re viewing the dates in a list, scroll down to the appropriate date and then tap on the room type you’d like to update
  5. Tap on Edit multiple dates then select the date range you’d like to block off
  6. Tap on Open or close rooms and then on Close in the room status section
  7. Tap Save if you’re on iOS, or tap the check mark in the top-right corner of the screen if you’re on Android (if you want to discard the changes, tap Reset on iOS or on the arrow in the top-left corner of the screen and then on Discard if you’re on Android)
