The BDC calendar sync doesn't work properly - full of bugs - search the community for "calendar sync" - nothing you can do about it, BDC refuse to acknowledge the problem - some partners suggest using a channel manager instead - search the community for "channel manager"
Using a channel manager depends on how many units you have to control, how many platforms you use, how much time you devote to it and how good a system you have in place.
I have 89 units over four sites to look after, dealing with (Agoda), BDC, EXP, Trip and a couple of Russian agents. I also have smaller agents that I deal with directly. I handle those all myself, plus just recently AirBnB as well, no channel manager required and no dependency on flakey syncing tools . YMMV.
