Good morning everybody.
Woke up to a bird chirping away inside the house, must have flown in last night and spent the night, could hear by the chirp the it was a grateful guest (raining).
Thank you Lucy, Le Balcon des Jasses, those pictures are amazing, and I have taken some tips, no doubt.
Thank you K2U for the welcome.
Adding a pic of the Breakfast Table
Thank you M Adampoulou. The same to you - Love Joy and Happiness and closer to home - Zimbabwe - A special word of love and hope to the elderly and the children in 2019
Quite a few hours, of which the guests are unaware of....as they sit down and their fresh bread is served from the oven to the table, served with home made butter, made that morning. In addition to preserves made from local produce...and home made cheeses and yoghurts.
Followed by a traditional warm English breakfast and brewed coffee the traditional South African way.
Electricity can sometimes be a problem here as well. We have solar lamps and candles in the rooms. We also advise guests about the potential problems in this regard.
Being typical mountain weather, the weather conditions can change in an instant. We have hot water bottles and blankets on standby.
Sometimes trees can fall blocking their road, that is a 24hr standby with a chainsaw.
We simply treat any unexpected situation like we would for family.
Most of our reviews relate to Yellow Wood being a home away from home. The telephone number of every guest that checks in at Yellow Wood is stored, when they call again, it is a personalized greeting.
Upon booking, we send them a location marker, advise them of weather conditions and aske if this visit is linked to a special occasion like an anniversary. We then add some flowers to mark this special event. Upon arrival they will find a good bottle of wine and chocolates, wood in the fireplace and firelighters.
If this is a home away from home, our guests are treated like family. We love our dogs, as our guests drive up the winding path path to our home, there are signs that ask them to drive slowly because Jack Russel Children live here. Pet lovers just love this and their pets are welcome.
Oops, after appreciating the magnificent pictures on these posts, I just had to add some from Yellow Wood Cottage, Haenertsburg.
