Well I went ahead and completed the verification a few days ago. So far no adverse effects .. I think it is genuine.

I find it a little odd also, especially as there is no message from Booking.Com in the Extranet regarding this.
I think I will just ignore it and see what happens also.

Hmm, I am a little confused about this myself. I have no card machine either and thought the online payments offered by Booking.Com would enable me to charge the guests' virtual CC via my channel manager or via Booking.Com extranet. Booking.Com would then 'hold' the money until midway through the next month, then they would do a direct transfer (Reservations minus the commission) to my bank account. .. hence removing the need for a card machine. I am now reading that my POS machine is set up to charge virtual credit cards (as below) Can anyone clarify the situation?
