I notice that my response is still pending approval, is there a problem?
When guests have cancelled last minute and I have, I believe rightly so, charged them the full amount, some accept the charge but others will squirm. Booking.com have now introduced a new regulation that if a guest cancels and we charge the guest, they will take their commission. I ask, is this fair? Any thoughts?

First - Wirthotel, we do not have a credit card terminal either as these are expensive. So we researched and found something called Square. It is convenient and easy to use, if you have an ipad or iphone. Look into that. Alternatively please let us hav your email address and we will send you details.
We ensure that the guests receive a welcome email from the get go, and we ask if they have any special needs or dietary requirements. We do not maintain minimum nights which our guests seem to really appreciate, as they are just passing through. We place all sorts of important information on restaurants, activities and things to do in the area as we have a very good "Visitor Information Centre". Since we are very interested to learn about other traditions, customs and nations we always invite our guests to sit with us if they would like and chat. Very interesting to get to know people and most guests enjoy this.
Yes, on top of that, debit cards are not allowed by Square which is the system we use for taking the bookings. With a very small Bed and Breakfast of only two rooms, this has quite an impact on the bookings and revenue as it is difficult to fill the rooms last minute.
We have a Bed and Breakfast, albeit very small only two rooms. We have sheets that are the iron-free ones and wash almost every day as the guests are mostly one-nighters. Once washed, place in the dryer with "Perm-Free" cycle, remove dust thoroughly and allow to dry on rack especially in summer months. The sheets not only look ironed but they are fresh, which guests seem to like very much.
