Too Bad! A manual of some sort would have been so helpful to know the advantages and limitations of Booking.com before joining. I have been mislead by the website's look. Example is, under Payment > Credit card details. It turned into "not allowed to see credit card details." I lost income because I did not know I would never be allowed to see the guests credit card details be compensated for no shows. That piece of knowledge took hours on the telephone to get.
I am in France and apparently not eligible for “Payments by Booking.com” so booking.com tells me unspecifically. I have been routinely contacting them about this since I joined in June and I have never gotten the real answer. Every other service person tells me a different story and swears their version is true, which it is never had been. I have many messages from them telling me I am all set to except credit cards, and it is never true. This is my 25th year as an innkeeper/owner; we have a credit card terminal and no fake reservations so far. Insisting on a first nights payment weeds out the no shows.
My neighbor’s place does have booking.com taking bookings for him. He is with Abritel. Is that the magic to get booking.com to collecting payment or allow me access to credit card info.? I am fairly desperate for answers because dealing with the booking.com “problem du jour” has tripled my work time.
Thank you for your answers. You have been very helpful. Now I can continue to partner with Booking
