Is the "request to cancel" button not available for this reservation then? My partner is a host to and she has cancelled guests before for various reasons by telephoning BC. However if you do that on AirBnB they penalise you for doing so. She's used double booking excuse and such like. Anyway hope you get somewhere with it, best of luck!
Sorry to hear of your hassles with this person but how has he left reviews if never stayed? For this distance away from Xmas there should be no problem cancelling the booking either depending on your cancellation policy but BC should be able to cancel it surely on the grounds that if this person did show up you would feel threatened if have proof of what you say in your post.
Try going into a previous booking where they did stay at your property then should find an option to "report guest misconduct" and thus block them from future bookings if made in their name/details of course.
I had a similar situation just over a week ago. BC had supposedly cancelled the booking and offered voucher to guest for future date. Anyway my calendar let me re-open the room yet it was still not bookable so I did as above and added another unit and still found 24 hours later it was not bookable. Hope voucher not accepted used otherwise I've lost out. Messaged BC but no response.......yet!
Hope so too, they get enough commission.
Southern Spain, probably a manana thing being where I am haha.
May be a geographical thing.

Personally I read that as last chance to cancel free would be the Tuesday before the Sunday arrival date.
