For the LGBTQ+ community, travel in principle and travel in practice are sometimes two different things, as our most extensive LGBTQ+ research to date shows.
Barriers to inclusive travel still remain, with over half (60%) of LGBTQ+ travelers saying that being part of the community impacts the decisions they make when planning a trip. Here’s what else they had to say:
- We surveyed 5,514 LGBTQ+ travelers from 25 countries about their past experiences, current realities, and hopes for a more inclusive travel future
- 82% of travelers have had less than welcoming or uncomfortable experiences, with 64% saying they have to consider their safety and wellbeing when traveling
- More than half (55%) of LGBTQ+ travelers have faced discrimination, and 6 out of 10 say their safety and wellbeing is a key consideration when choosing a destination
