Does anyone have issues with getting fake reservations? Is there a way to stop them?
We are getting multiple fake reservations daily. This adds up to lots more work for the front desk to go in and cancel these on the Booking site as well as on the booking site. If you fail to cancel on both you incur commission charges for guest you never had. Is there a way to set up the account to only take reservations with a card on file? I'm pretty sure this would remedy the problem.
I think the people from booking.com should not allow to open fake accounts when i check phone numbers always not exsist or contry is wrong adress almost always in bankok
We are plagued by false reservations. I've complained to Booking but they do not respond. Usually they book for one week without a phone number and the address is incomplete. If Booking could just not allow a reservation to be accepted without a valid email, physical address and phone number.
Just started happening to us - 3 in a row - Japan - very American/Canadian names and no responses to message or texts or requests of cancellation. I just add another room availability on top of the fake one to make sure its available but this is not sustainable - booking.com must require some kind of verification process like Airbnb.
I'm in the same situation. How can we cancel fake reservations? Help us please!!
I've called BdC many times for this problem and they said the best way is let booking.com handle the payment, however there are two places is not able to do that is Vietnam and India, some kind of problem that they haven't settle down that option. Here are some suggestions they guide us:
1 - Turn on validate guest via credit card (ask BdC support to give you ability to view the CCV of the guest)
2 - Check if the guest first time, new guest?
3 - Check their telephone number is real, available in other channels like WhatsApp,....
4 - Try to contact them to see if they answer, ask them to provide correct information
5 - Mark as invalid CC
6 -Wait 24hrs and you can cancel the reservation yourself, or they will cancel themselves after they saw the report invalid CC.
Over the past couple of months, we have been plagued by bogus reservations, they book several days, then cancel abruptly. This has really frustrated us. Can Booking.com work on it?
