Toniya, I read the article and followed the instructions. The system only allowed me to set a flag that ‘charges may apply’ without me being able to specify what those charges are. What am I missing?
There is a drop down menu where you can find the option "Pets can stay for free". When you choose it, make sure that you click on the blue button "Save".
Hi Toniya, thanks for your reply. I might not have been clear in my question. I did see the drop down with only two options, ‘charges may apply’ or ‘pets stay for free’. What I am looking for is where you can actually state what the charges are.
You can specify what the charges are in your property description. For this you need to go to the "Property" tab -> "View your descriptions" and scroll to the button of the page where you can find "Request a change". There you can add the text you want to publish about the charges. Your request will go to our Content team, who will then add this information to your property description.
Yes, this is an extra fee and you have to collect it personally. It cannot be added to the total cost as it is something specific and every property has different policies.
I too would find it useful to be able to set the fee directly via booking, not only not to have to deal with the fee myself, but also for the guests to know the price with the fee included, since many guest don't read everything that it's written on the property page and it can become awkward for the guest to find out they owe you money for the dog only when they arrive at the location.
Fully agree with the above ^ and would love to see a pet fee added in the additional fees section please 🙏🙏
I will be increasing my general rates by the cost of my pet fee on Booking.com versus other providers until this feature is available to cover the additional costs of hosting pets.
This will make my rates cheaper on other booking sites for guests that don't have a pet 😬
I agree. all other sites have a pet fee and as well they also allow guests to select from how many dogs in the dropdown for guests and the booking fee is only charged for those guests that select dogs. Look at VBRO or airbnb. Both have it.
I also agree that pet fee should be allowed to set and it would be added to reservation price and collected by Booking.
Another option would be very useful to set how many pets per reservation you accept or charge per pet.
Because if you accept pets and there is a dog show in your city you might end up with reservation where guest comes to dog show and they bring like 4-5 dogs...
Any update on being able to setup a pet fee on this platform? As others have said, other provider platforms allow this? I don't really want to increase the nightly charges to compensate as this will put my Booking.com at higher rate than other sites

Dear Ophelie Krug,
Thanks for reaching out to us.
The pet information is included in your property policies. You can find instructions on how to update your policies in the following article.
I hope it is clear to you.
Best regards,

Thank you for your help, Toniya!

Hello,
I have the same question/problem..
Does that mean I have to collect the fee personally? Cant I somehow add it to the total cost when they confirm booking online?
Thanks
Dear Simon Jeffreys,
Thanks for asking!

When will you fix this? I do not want to collect fees outside of the platform. Other sites allow you to add pet fees.
Thank you for your feedback, Cindy Fox! We appreciate it and will forward it to the relevant team and department. We will keep you posted.

All fees should be processed through the booking platform. Why do we have to personally collect fees for pets and not any other fee such as cleaning?
We'd also like to see a pet fee added.
