We have gotten a confirmation of booking but the tel contact says its a wrong number

at 3:25am East African local time we got an email booking.com confirmation of a booking but  the tel number given appears wrong.  you ring and you get a response that it does not exist. we have emailed but no response.  

Could this be a fake booking?  i need help to be sure it is or its not. cant booking.com help its clients reduce time wasting by filtering fake bookings if at all this is one of them?
