Important information about the coronavirus

We advise impacted partners to regularly check this article for further updates.

LATEST UPDATE: as of February 7, 2020, Forced Circumstances/Forces Majeures no longer apply to reservations made for properties in Taiwan.

At Booking.com, the safety of our partners and guests is of the utmost importance. As a result of the official travel advice about the coronavirus, guests are likely to be prevented from traveling to or staying at accommodations in the Greater China area. Note: Travel throughout the Greater China area is severely impacted or forbidden at this time.

To protect the health of our partners and guests, we've declared Forced Circumstances (FC).

Forced Circumstances are extended to apply to: (1) All reservations with check-in date up to and including February 29. (2) All properties in China, Hong Kong, and Macau. (3) All reservations made by travelers from countries other than China, Hong Kong, and Macau.

The impact of Forced Circumstances is as follows:

Properties in China, Hong Kong, and Macau

  • For all reservations made for properties in the above-mentioned countries/regions with check-in dates on or before February 29, 2020, we expect you to refund any prepayments and waive cancellation costs (e.g. fees, expenses, and/or other amounts).

  • Booking.com will waive commission in these cases.

Properties in all other countries

  • For any reservation made at your property by travelers from China, Hong Kong, and Macau with check-in dates on or before February 29, 2020, we expect you to refund any pre-payment and waive cancellation costs (e.g. fees, expenses, and/or other amounts).

  • Booking.com will waive commission in these cases.

  • All reservations made by travelers from countries other than China, Hong Kong, and Macau—regardless of booking or check-in date—are subject to our usual way of working as mentioned in our General Delivery Terms. In these cases, properties aren't allowed to cancel any reservations without the guest’s approval.

We'll continue to monitor the situation closely to ensure the safety of all partners and guests.

Due to the high volume of inquiries, customers might experience delays and try contacting your property directly for cancellations. Info on how to handle these reservations can be found here.
