What is a rate plan?

A rate plan consists of a number of fundamental elements of a booking, including:

  • Cancellation policies
  • Prices
  • Number of days between booking and check-in
  • Length of stay
  • Room or unit type
  • Meals (if available)

What rate plans are recommended?

To attract a wide variety of guests—especially during times when they’re looking for more flexibility and peace of mind—we recommend establishing a strong foundation for your business by optimizing your rate plan setup.

We offer three main types of rate plans. These are:

  • Free Cancellation: A flexible Free Cancellation rate plan offers potential bookers more freedom in case their travel plans or other circumstances change. Free Cancellation rates tend to be the most expensive, because guests are willing to pay a bit more for peace of mind.
  • Non-Refundable: Non-Refundable rates help secure more guaranteed bookings and revenue, especially for travelers on a budget. Prices for Non-Refundable rates are generally lower than Free Cancellation rates. On the other hand, this rate plan tends to generate additional bookings, partly because these lower rates are more compelling for travelers looking for the best value.
  • Early Booker: An Early Booker rate plan helps you secure bookings in advance and is usually the least expensive rate plan. You can offer customers this rate plan alongside a variety of cancellation terms or in combination with a Non-Refundable policy.
