Virtual credit card payments

I have only recently started accepting virtual credit card payments and a curious situation has arisen inasmuch as the processing charge by my merchant account provider is much higher than expected. Investigation has shown that the card processed is either of non UK origin or a commercial one, and as such qualifies for a premium charge, although the card owner is very much domiciled in the UK. The only reason I can think why a non-domiciled or possibly commercial card was used is that it's not the customer's but rather a card relating to Booking.com. If this is the case, would the card information be  unique and encrypted, generated specifically for this single transaction ?

Hi , welcome

  • are you sure its not a BdC issued VCC?

i.e. you are on BdC online payments - pay method

  • encryption has nothing to do with a CC nor VCC - not a thing
  • yes they are one time unique, good for 6-12 months.

Hi, it's a Mastercard VCC but the cardholder name is shown as Booking, com (Agent). I guess that makes it a commercial card, hence the surcharge
