your first question should be: "Why should a guest choose my B&B and not the one of my neighbor". It is makes no sense making the same as your neighbor. So you should try to make something different and better. Original ideas are always welcomed by customers, so try and keep it simple (at least in the beginning until you get some experience) but at the same time do something different. Just as an example, Costa Rica has a lot of fruits, so propose a very large variety of fruits and fresh juices from those fruits. That might have a cost, but customers will be surprised and will remember it and write reviews about that, which will help your sales. I offer champagne with my breakfast, very few people drink it (so the cost is low) but everyone talks about it. That is the idea.
Okay but the system has a flow. A lot of customers originally put 1 day stay in order to compare prices easily and then put in the amount of nights they really want. Using that system will make the hotel overpriced when seen for one night.
to my knowledge there is no way to do that because they do not have a "maximum stay" limit which is available at Expedia. With Expedia you could do a new room type and set the maximum stay to 1 night and it would work I think. So the only way is to submit this idea to booking.com and wait to see if they do something about it. Maybe the best way would be to talk to your booking.com account manager. I think it is a good idea and it should be promoted, it would help a lot of hotels. Problem is that I am not sure that booking.com would want to promote this as it might be against there own interest. In any case if you get something it will be good for all of us.
Maybe you have a minimum sales requirement put in by booking.com. This means that if for example they have set minimum 3 rooms, you cannot close sales until you have reached 3 rooms sold on a particular date. The quick way out of that is to change the price. Just put a price that is much much over the market price so you don't get a reservation and then send a message to booking.com and ask them to stop sales.
