Thank you all for your replies, at least it's not just happening to me LOL
I didnt contact b.com as I'm way too busy but they have allowed some of my replies to appear since but the replies I responded to a few weeks ago are still not posted by b.com.
That's exactly what I'm getting and it's happening again today. I've waited over an hour to get access to the extranet today.
never mind...I'm in. It's working now lol
There are cheaper CCTV's to be got, they are called ''field cams'' and are mainly used by hunters. I have them too..but beware..if a guest finds them, they can take them, but they record..date, time (hours, minutes, seconds), and sound. You can set them to take photo's and movie. They start taping when motion is detected.
As a B&B owner, it happens but thankfully it's rare to happen...2 would check in but 3 check out. It happened again a few weeks ago and the 2 men ran out really fast and the girl came own the stairs at her own pace, she was cheeky enough to say it was a lovely stay, lovely room etc etc and I informed her she had to pay for the 3rd guest. She said he arrived that morning and she just walked out the door and they drove off, I was never paid for the 3rd guest as their booking card was master card and b.com dont give us the last 3 numbers on the back (CVC) so I didnt get paid for the 3rd guest. At check in the evening before, they insisted on paying by cash for 2 people....now when guests insist on paying on arrival..I get suspicious!
I do have CCTV but I had it installed years ago, long before I ever decided to do B&B and yes, the 3rd guest arrived back with them the night before.
I reported it to b.com but still to this day no one got back to me about it, about 2 weeks later I get an automated email from b.com asking me how I would rate their response to my complaint, I told them they NEVER got back to me...and still to this day no one from b.com got back to me about my complaint.
So complaining to b.com about anything...not worth the while!
It's not a common thing in Ireland or the UK (England) but it is in most parts of Europe as I use to do a lot of travelling through Europe (driving) and it was very common that I'd have to hand up my passport at check in and I'd get it back when I check out. Maybe some of you who are having problems with guests could ask for their passports or drivers license ...photo ID ?? Maybe if they know you have their passport or drivers license they may think twice about trashing the place, as well as having a deposit/bond. Just a suggestion.
With the B&B so busy I have many a time asked my hubby...pleaseeeeeee can I do just ONE MORE extension, just a little extension, a very small extension pleaseeeeeeeeee!!! He looks at me very cross and says..NO MORE EXTENSIONS, NO MORE BUILDERS and knowing you it'll be a 3 story extension!! I just look down and sad and say...well not a 3 story, maybe a 2 story. It's around that time he walks away and wont talk to me HA-HA-HA-HA
I renovated my home 6 years ago, it was a big job. But I've since renovated 2 other houses for let, one for students and another for non-students on a long term let, I finished it last week but it took a year to do. One thing I quickly learned with regards to students (young people) no girls !! I wont allow girls to be tenants, they trash the place but nothing like what happened to that landlord in Belfast Northern Ireland. I think the mother who made the reservation should be held accountable, after all..she made the reservation.
I would suggest that landlord change his policy to an age limit, maybe 18 or 21 yrs old and no un-accompanied minors as under 18 yrs old is considered a minor. And ask for photo ID when they check in and photo copy their ID. I've traveled all over Europe (driving) and any where I went asked for photo ID and in most countries in Europe, they hold onto your passport until you check out.
