Sorry never had to use one but if you are still accepting bookings paid up front you should ask booking.com for guaranteed confirmation when you will be paid and that you are considering asking future guest for payment in cash on arrival and that they should then take it up with booking.com for a refund they have already paid them.
Have you spoken with your local trading standards? are you still accepting BDC bookings in the same way where the guest pays BDC up front.
You write a letter of intention to ad a reasonable amount of interest for late payment. Are you still accepting BDC guest who have also paid BDC up front?
Under British law you are within your right to charge BDC interest for late payments
Had a telephone call from BDC rep trying to get me to offer breakfast for guest booking a no breakfast rate. I told them I offer both with breakfast and no breakfast rates if a guest decides to take breakfast when they arrive and have reserved room only then they can pay me direct. I got the impression the agent was not impressed with my answer.
