We are in France and below the threshold for any TVA, Booking asked us to provide a VAT number today. If you follow the link or look on the Extranet there is no option to say NO number, only two options for yes.
Can Booking please advise what they are doing and why they have asked us to provide the impossible?
Yes thanks but I am based in France so phone number is in France too. I want to talk to a UK Booking bod in the UK about a UK problem so need that option
The taxe is set according to our type of property and is charged by Booking to whoever makes the reservation for all adults 18+ in the group. It is not informative, it is a charge added to each booking and the customer pays this amount.
The taxe is not due to under 18s. Booking collect this payment directly from the person making the reservation and should pass it on to the local officials.
They are charging for all guests, under 18s too, so are overcharging customers. If they then only send the taxe to the local officials in relation to the amount of 18+ guests they are profiting from the overcharge.
I have asked Booking to comment and correct this situation and they have not replied to my four requests. I am interested to see if it is across the whole of the country of France or just my property. If it is widespread it is a big difference and a large overcharge.
If we provide a bad service then we accept bad ratings but to allow a final rating, which can be a keyboard or button error by the customer, and not use a simple average score from the 6 individual categories is ridiculous.
If a mistake is made in the final rating it can be terrible for a host and impossible to correct.
Hi Barry, yes we are limiting it to some rooms not all but my issue is that if I do a search for 3 days my rooms show the normal price, no problem. If I do a search for 4 days they show the same price, as I would expect. The missing thing is something to tell the potential customer who searches for 3 days that they get an extra day free, or if a customer searches for 4 days they get the message that there is a free day included. Not just a different price.
There seems to be nothing to draw the attention of the offer to anyone.
No indication, flagging, logo etc shown on the searches.
Probably a question for Booking themselves to answer.

Thanks, you are a star!
Thanks for your replies but as you are not based in France and don't have the same taxe system as we do it's probably not going to help.
Pibomarco, you are not understanding the issue.

The new rating system is total rubbish.
