I recently received 5,8 just because the guest didn't read the description and didn't look at the room pictures before booking a basic (cheapest) room with small window. And was surprised when he saw the size of the window and that there was no elevator ect. Under the negatives he mentioned stuff that are visible in pictures and in description. Well he did rate staff 10 and Location 7,5 and still managed to score 5,8. :) I couldn't resist and sent them a private message to vent out a little and that's it. I think I would receive a better score with the new review system here.. xD But that was also the first score that low in the past 9 years :D
Based on a screenshot I don't see any possible confusions. It's not a mathematical equation. :) I understand it could be confused to "Dumb & Dumber" but oh well.. it happens from time to time. :)
I am still on old review system.. so I didn't get the taste of it yet. :)
Any scoring system has sense basicly. The point is that all systems have positives and negatives and statisticly I beleive it won't change drasticly your overall score.
I think with 1 - 10 scoring is a better advantage for small business, that have time to be a "perfect, always smiling, welcoming, always at your service" host. They can score a better score in overal experience but can receive a lower score in categories which is the positive side of this new rating system.
We must take into consideration also, that you may receive 7,5 score from the categories, but 9 as an overall score, which is the positive side of it. We'll see.
Perhaps if the guest asks politely the one that made the booking.
If you advertise lower prices, your ranking on Booking.com could drop. Interesting that I have aprox 150 reviews on TripAdvisor, also paid for promotion cca 650€ per year there and I think I received two bookings from them directly. Well maybe it brought some guests directly to my webpage or they booked via tripadvisor on Booking.com.. I don't know that. But for me TripAdvisor doesn't work. At least directly doesn't, and it annoys me that you can't delete 10 years old pictures, or reviews are not refreshed.. Also It is not what it was.. TripAdvisor users are more focused on restaurants/dinning instead of looking for accommodation.. at least in my area.
Well Booking.com now process the payouts fairly fast. :)
So are you saying since Expedia is in the US that they calculate commission only on net room? They don't.
You're right, but I couldn't find your topic ;) Rudely? Please quote me. :) I haven't, still receiving scores by the old system. Those few in the new system are not that happy about it. For example one received an overall score 9, but would receive a 9,6 based on the old system, since the categories are still rated with smiles but won't affect overall score. This will be interesting.
Regarding the topic, I was thinking which agency doesn't charge commision on the total and exludes VAT.. couldn't think of one.
Hey Stay, how do you like the new scoring system. 1- 10 exactly the way you wanted, congratulations ;)
This was the idea from fellow hosts, who wanted that guests should score their stay from 1 - 10, they weren't satisfied with previous rating system / scoring with smiles. So Booking.com "listened" to them and here we go. :)
7,5 is still considered as "GOOD" value. So.. As I already stated before, 7,5 is a positive score, based on the scoring system Booking.com have set. Because the hosts couldn't accept 7,5s as a good score, that's why it was changed to 1 - 10 model (overall score). #grabspopcorn
