I am in charge of a small cozy guesthouse in Madrid! We opened in April 2018 and we would like to participate in this community to make the hosting experience better!I love traveling so want to make the experience of our guests as good as possible!
I can speak Spanish, English, Chinese (mandarin), a little bit of French, Italian and German! Can you tell I love languages?

We don't have a security deposit either, michael beeston . Our guests are usually couples or single business guests as well. Might it be different for bigger lodgings for great amount of people?
However, we have had to face several occasions in which we had to charge some guests who damaged things in our property.
We do have a sign informing them that any damage or missing article may be charged and they are responsible for them. After placing this sign, there have been less incidents.
pibomarco Yes, I believe that it is necessary to set those quiet hours as a matter of respect to the rest of the guests and/or neighbors :)
Yes! I completely agree with you, k2u .
I don't think it should be necessary to call the police. I hope I will never have to do that.
Hi fluff,
Thanks for your response.
When it comes to new reviews of people who stayed not long ago, it is that way. However, I have faced several occasions when the red flag popped up but there was not new comment. Sometimes the red flag appears hours before the comment can actually be seen and some other times the comment is from a person who stayed such a long time ago that it appears where it belongs.
Let's say:
A person stays now in December last week. The comment would appear on the top of the thread of comments.
However, if a person stayed in August but wrote the comment just now in December, the comment would appear among the comments from stays in August.
It is a real hassle to try to look for the certain review (without a comment) when there's no option to filter them.
Have you ever encountered this before? Because it does frequently happen to us ...
Hi k2u ,
"You are a woman, what are you going to do about it". That is the type of things that somebody should never ever say to anybody. Some guests, or customers of any type, believe that since they are paying, they can do whatever they want to do, when it is not like that at all.
It is true that as hosts, we want to do whatever is in our hands to make the guests stay as pleasant as possible, but guests should also know how to behave and follow the rules, which I believe should be reasonable.
As a host, I have encountered many of these situations too but, luckily, I haven't had to call the police yet (touch wood).
Hi!
We also try to handle it as soon as possible. We do have security cameras in all common areas too, so if we do see any guest breaking any rule, we try to politely warn them asap.
If they keep doing it, other things might have to be done, such as calling the police if the issue gets worse. But we haven't had to do that so far (touching wood too!).
I hope this helps!
Hi Elinnog60 ,
We are new here and we did not know about the effects of ammonia! I haven't tried it yet, but I think I will definitely go for it!
We have also had many issues with unremovable stains and, as I can see online, ammonia does wonders!
Thanks for the tip!
Hi Leandri Klopper and Vmachadoarancet ,
We also keep track on what is written about our property in order to improve our services, but there are plenty of them which are anonymous. Probably because they do not want other future guests to know their identities or just to hide a bad comment from the property.
In any case, we do know for sure that there is more time for a guest to write a comment since we have recently received a review from a guest who stayed in July-August.
I do not know why there should be such a big time range for a guest to write down a review, but some guests do it months later.
I hope that helps you identify who may have been!
